i just put a t45 in my car last week. it had only 5000 miles on it, i helped pull it out of the car. anyways, the thing is really weird. i've got 4 in a half quarts of fluid in it, and it whines like a supercharger in every singal gear except for 4th. its popped out of 4th like 5 times on me now, but its the smoothest gear i got, as far as shifting, and driving. i've grinded fourth hard twice, also, but after i grinded it, thats when my noise went away, and it started popping out. do i need a rebuild, or, just some new/more tranny fluid? any one else have any stupid experinces with they're t45? let me know.

T-45 only takes ~3.1 quarts, you may have overfilled it. The best way to fill your transmission is to take off the shifter, and unscrew the top fill plug - pour in fluid until it just starts to come out the top plug. I would double check the fluid level before you screw soemthing up, your transmission shouldnt be grinding with only 5000 on it.

:stupid: . I just put mine in with my motor last week and it only took about 3 litres. Pull the top plug and pour it in the shifter like stangGT97 said. What kind of fluid are you using? I just used Dexron 3 automatic tranny fluid and mine feels perfect with about 80,000 miles on it.

Types that are worth using- (there may be others)
Redline ATF
Royal Purple MAX ATF
Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF
Castrol Dextron III/Mercon

Make sure you don't use gear oil in your transmission, the high viscosity doesnt allow the gears to mesh properly. Tranny oil for the Mustang must carry the ATF label

it only takes 3 quarts? them dummbies at autozone told me 4 to 6. i'll have to try to drain some out of it then. i used valvolien atf type 6 i think. it was whatever they told me to use. huh? oh well. i'll try draining it first, then i guess i'll try a different kind. thanks guys

Just pull the top tranny plug on the passengers side. Once it stops coming out you know you have it at the right level, put the plug back in, done.
