For the life of me I can't remember what kind of ATF to use in a T5. I bought some Mercon V, but now I'm not sure. What's the "approved" fluid?
Thanks.
Dextron III/Mercon is the standard stuff to run in a T-5. The manufacturer also recommends Mobil 1 synthetic ATF if the car will only be operated at 30* F and above.
as of this spring ford now recommends mercon V in all manual transmissions that used mercon III I can send the bulletin to you later....not sure if mercon v is better??but we can no longer get ford mercon III/dextron from ford !
That splains why I couln't find Dextron III/Mercon at Autozone. Choices were Mercon V or Dextron VI only. I picked up the Merc V because it said it was for Fords.
Closer examination says its for all Ford Mercon applications except Mercon SP or type F fluids.
