I am almost done rebuilding my WC T5 and i relized that i didnt have a new tailshaft bushing. I ordered a new one and i was sent one that is the right diameter but about 3/8" shorter than the one i took out. I called national drivetrain where i bought it and they dont have any longer ones in any of their warehouses and their trans. tech said that it wont make a diference. Does anyone know if this is correct? Will a shorter bushing hurt anything? How big of a part does this play in the transmission? thanks

I just rebuilt mine and did the exact opposite, took out a small one and put a new longer one in. Not sure if it makes a difference at all, just make sure it's in straight and squarely. I used a seal driver from the local auto parts store and it went right in. I don't think that it really plays that huge of a part in the operation, just keeping it from rattling around and giving you unwanted vibrations maybe. Is the short one about 1-1.5 inches long? Mt old one was and the trans functioned fine. Should be some swirly marks on the side facing the yoke. Should also be a hole that goes towards the groove in the housing.
