I am installing a T5 in my 65 with somewhat buffed up 302, with try's. I want to know if there is a throw out bearing out there that will allow me to use my original linkage, so I can use diaphram type pressure plate. I want to get away from the 3 finger type pressure plate. The guys at ford tell me I can't use my original linkage unless I can find a different "stack up"(throw out bearing), the term they used, so I can use the original linkage. Thanks

it will depend on whether or not you are using a T5 bellhousing, or an adaptor plate. if you use the T5 bell then you need to modify the bell, and use a T5 throwout bearing(iirc). if you use an adaptor plate, then you can use your stock linkage with a stock throwout bearing, and still use a diaphram type pressure plate. centerforce makes a complete kit for the early car. just tell them what you need.

I have the stock linkage, and a diaphram clutch- I got the setup from Mcleud. Its real firm pedal, and causes the pedal to become much more on and off- although its not as firm as the RAM HD 3-finger long style that I had first.

Isn't there an issue with newer 302's not having hole for mechanical clutch to bolt to? Or is it in the adapter plate you mention? Lots of parts need to be swapped from the original to make it work but that's what I'm in the process of doing.
