so for those of you who are wondering what a T56 swap consists of here it goes:
remove your trans/bell
install the t56 with these modifications
the plate between the engine and trans must be clearanced to accomodate the clutch cable--do this before you install trans

the exsisting crossmember supports must be cut and the provided ones welded in. this is the trick of the install, if you have sfc's then you are on your own.

if you don't(like i didn't) then now is a great time to put them in. first you cut the rear-most crossmember support on both sides and test fit the supplied brackets. once you find where you want the brackets you will have to modify the sfc's(depending on model) to clear the brackets. once everything is dandy then weld away.

the other trick is getting a mid pipe to fit, as you can see in the pics it still rubs the crossmember, but that is the best fitting of the 3 midpipes i tried.

after that is the time to install your maximum motorsports front coilovers with offset tubular control arms and 4 bolt cc plates. fwiw i had QA1 cc plates and the move to mm cc plates/control arms netted me an additional .75deg pos caster without any adverse affect to bump travel.

very nice, love the pics, but couldnt you just mark the midpipe and put a little dent in it to clear better

my o/r h pipe doesnt fit well either.
for us t56 guys we need to have a custom mid section fab'ed. there are no other alternatives except dealing with some rub (or running open exhaust)
if you go this route dont go with any pre-fabed mid section because it wont fit. but hey with 3:73's my engine spins at under 2500rpms at 6th gear-going 100mph of course the extra gear is a fun mod but my 1/4mile times would be better if i went with steeper rear end gears.

the sfc's have brackets welded to the sides that extend up into the frame. i had to notch those brackets to fit around the crossmember brackets.

the third pic down you will notice the sfc has the part of the bracket that extends much further on the sfc than the body. hope that makes sense.

going to a single turbo here pretty soon and plan on running a single exhaust so hopefully that won't be an issue any longer.

How do you like that Fidanza aluminum flywheel?

A T56 swap is the only real think I have planned for my winter mods and I was considering that flywheel.

Lastly, has anyone looked into an 03/04 Cobra midpipe or aftermarket replacement for the same?

there is a bracket that comes pre welded to those sfc's that i had to trim down.

the bracket is there to get better distribution on the body.

i like the flywheel, however with my cam it makes alot of noise--alot

03/04's are very different and will not work--not to mention the crossmembers on those are very different.

kenny brown front sway bar--f'ing HUGE needs endlinks

Well it will get an alum. flywheel, t56, and 4.10s. I got the 4.10s the day after I bought the car, paid $60 for them brand new from a local guy. Should still be good, plus the F1A will get it through the revs, haha.

Does anyone know how to get the D&D stuff without buying a tranny from them???

Other then there custom made crossmember can you get the bell housing from somebody else? The guy on the phone said the Bellhousing was a "custom cast" I'm wondering if that is true.

I might have a lead on Viper spec trany for cheap but D&D told me they don't sell the swap stuff without the tranny! WTF?
