T56 install and coilover pics duw

Both of these i have no idea what you are talking about. How did you do it. Im getting ready to order the t-56 and wanna know for sure how to do it

the plate--all you have to do is grind a little off the edge so the clutch cable will clear. no big deal, just hook up the ol die grinder with carbide bit and wiz a little off.

as for the crossmember i really can't tell you step-by-step cuz what you need to do may be very different from what i did due to diff sfc's, body stretch, etc...

once you have everything in hand and take a look at my pics it should make sense.

as for the viper spec tranny, i have no idea. i bought all my stuff from d&d to avoid that kind of headache.

oh i see, so theres a new plate to be installed???

no.

the plate is already in between the engine and tranny. you have to grind a little off to make the cable clear.

the kit comes with very little. you get the tranny, driveshaft, trans mount, trans mount spacer, and the crossmember brackets.

i don't mean to sound like an a-hole, but this has to be said. if you need alot of help or directions for this then maybe this a bit outside of your abilities. there is a lot of cutting, welding, drilling, etc that has to be done. i had to go out and buy a new crossmember after i had messed mine up so bad. it also took the better part of 9 hours for me to do this, and i had a lift, airtools, welder, torch, etc at my disposal.

sorry man, i'm gonna have to raise the :bs: on that guy.

it will cost damn near $1500 just convert an 03 cobra t56 to viper spec--input shafts are not cheap, neither are output or main shafts.

i'm not gonna sit here and nutswing from d&d, but they treated me right and offered what i feel a good deal.

btw putting a t56 in a fox is alot diff than a 94/95.

Updated the link. If you don't understand cutting a engine block plate this is probably over your head. :P

bimmertech
I got nothing against D&D (other then they don't sell there swap stuff separate, and there prices are a bit high for some things) but I know I can do it cheaper then there "kit" just a matter of learning what needs to be done/changed.

I've got a lead on a broken viper spec tranny for cheap + a free rebuild from a local tranny builder here. And I'm simply not going to buy a tranny from D&D if I decide to do this swap wouldn't make since for me... ;) (now If I didn't have the hookups I do I would order it from them and get it over with but I'm a broke college student with a broken T5 to boot!)

I just gotta figure out the bell/clutch setup, and what needs to be done with the input shaft/mainshaft etc.

i hear ya man, alot of us have gone through the broke college days.

i just think that when its all said and done you will have alot more money in it than you think you will--yes it still may be cheaper though.

iirc the vipers use a transaxle like c5/c6's. in that case you are gonna have to come up with a tailshaft, and figure out a shifter situation. that is after you get the bell straightened out, a new clutch, clutch fork, etc...

i wish you the best of luck, and i hope you come out of it with a badass tranny for the cheap. keep us updated on your progress. :nice:

Lol i dont see why we need to cut it. If the cable is fine now

because the part the cable goes through is physically closer to the engine than it was before. the plate will now interfere with the cable--acutally the little plastic part on the end of the cable.

you cut the plate, not the cable.
