T5z vs tkx , cost and value.

The stifflers unit is pretty nice.
Just keep in mind there is NO give to it. So if your trans mount brackets that goto the frame are banged up, you are going to have to straighten them. The stock crossmember you can easily twist to fit, the stifflers, not so much.
There is also a tko tkx mount kit you need to go with it.

I have the stiffer's unit in my car. Fits nice, lot more free area under the car in the trans are to reach in and do stuff if needed.

If you are buying a new one, i'd go stifflers, but if you want to save a few bucks just modify your existing.

Alright !! Here we are. When all was said and done. I paid 2850 for a new tkx. Clutch , pressure plate, flywheel , yoke , clutch fork, shifter , throw out bearing, and a bell housing. Along with most of the needed bolts. The whole thing was discounted because of the bell

Only issue is there is a crack in the bell that was repaired. I’ll post pics below to get your opinions.

Crack is off the clutch fork hole. The outside has been welded but the inside was not. Wondering if it’s usable , or if I can weld up the inside

You got a damn good deal. Even if you have to get a different bellhousing. My TKX setup was about $4200 with shipping and tax. I did get a Stifflers crossmember but I already had a flywheel. I'm still breaking in the trans and clutch but so far am very happy with it. If anybody is looking for a good 4 year old T5Z near North Dakota let me know. Local pickup only, not going to ship it.

Mixed opinions. I'm kinda one to say "Do it once, do it right" But at the same time you may stick with a T-5Z and have years of trouble-free driving based on how you drive, and what your needs are.

Is the extra cost going to break the bank for you? If not, then it might make sense to save a little bit longer and future proof your setup.

Figure the extra cost is an insurance policy. You can save a few bucks and run the T5z and it may blow up, or it may survive everything you throw at it and never have an issue.
I have the T5z and it is so sweet, shifts buttery smooth with the Pro5.0 shifter, 3rd gear pulls so amazing with 4:10 gears and Nt555 R2 drag radials with no problems at all.
