I replaced my clutch, throwout bearing, bear retainer and whatnot back in October, but it has already gone to chirping and rattling. I bought a new throwout bearing, steel retainer (94-95 specific), and this time I am replacing the clutch fork. I have a few questions so I dont have to do this again 6 months from now. I didnt lube the first retainer and think that was my downfall. Will some axle bearing lube work well for that? Also, do you pack the throwout bearing with bearing grease, or just throw it in with what comes from the factory? I dont want premature failing again, so I want to lube things the right way... Also, will there be a risk involved in getting grease on the clutch disk if I grease everything up? I dont plan on removing the clutch, but Im thinking the grease will splatter once I get it back together and driving again. That is the whole reason I did not lube anything the first time I did the swap of parts... Please give me any input on what you guys have done in the past so I can get this done right finally! :nice:

Replace the pilot bearing and throwout bearing with OEM parts!! DON"T add any grease to either of them. Make sure there is NO damage or roughness on the retainer and put a super light coat of grease on it. Resurface or replace the flywheel (resurface at a minimum), thread seal and TQ the flywheel bolts.

Thanks a lot. I dont plan on removing the clutch again, because I replaced the flywheel and pilot bearing back in October with the clutch. I used ford racing parts, so I would consider those OEM... I'll give it another try with the new fork, throwout bearing and retainer with some lube this time and hope it lasts. If anyone else has other input, please speak up. I dont know why my throwout bearing from October would be rattling other than lack of lube on the retainer the first time...
