I bought the PIE adapter for my aux plug and the iPod interface for it... and I was wondering... how do I safely take apart the dashboard without breaking things??

It's very easy, I've done it a few times, to make changes to my wiring.
First thing is to remove the section that contains the cup holders, the dashboard sits under this so you have to take it off first.
Remove the shifter, if you have a manual its as easy as pulling up the rectangle that holds the leather from the shifter, it just snaps into place.
Then unscrew the shifter.

Next open up the compartment behind the cup holders, you will see two black screws, after removing them you'll see how you can lift this entire miffle section. To make it easier, make sure your e-brake is pulled all the way up. lift and then slide the section off of the ebrake handle.

Now that that is taken care of you can pop out the covers on both sides of the dashboard. they are long and they run up and down.

After they are removed you will see all the screws that hold the dashboard in. there are six of them, when they are removed you just have to disconnect the wire harnests in the back and your done.
