taking off the quad shocks

If you have stock control arm's and rubber bushing, I'd recomend keeping them on. They do help reduce wheel hop a bit, that's about it. If you have decent upper & lower aftermarket control arm's w/poly bushing's and poly bushing's in the upper housing, take those quad shock's off and throw them in the garbage were they belong. Basically useless weight on your car.

Well I seriously don't know, but this seriously sounds like another thread like the strut tower brace one. Some people say it doesn't do anything and say it's useless, some say it is of defnite help and aid in some way. Under extreme conditions, I can definitely understand how it has some aid, but then again it's just a thought. I for one have heard people say that they experienced wheel hop under hard take-offs much more frequently when they took them off however. So it could really go either way. But under "normally-driven" circumstances, I say they are of no true benfits worth measuring.

I would agree under normal driving they will have no ill effects as you will not get wheel hop under those conditions but with if you do not have them and try to launch at any high rpm's you will notice the difference. I would say leave them unless its a wheel clearance thing then you could try flipping them first. True about the control arms and bushings comments then I would say for sure ditch them but as for the weight.......they cannot way more than 5lbs combined and that won't be much of a factor.

As for the STB's, they do work and help chassis flex, and stabilize the shock towers they can move 1/4 inch without support if that means anything to anyone.....I would think it is a beneficial add on.....for cars like mine for sure.

5lbs is alot!!!! When you look at the big picture... You take 5lbs off here, another 7lbs there, 9lbs somewhere else....before you know it you've gotten rid of 17lbs!! It all add's up man. 100lbs is a tenth in the quarter.
Like I said Before....Basically if you have a stock rear suspension, keep the quad shock's on.... if you have a decent rear susp. setup, take the quad's off as they will be totally useless. It's that simple man.

You want 5 pounds? I'll give ya 10, ditch some of your clothes and that big dinner you had before you went to the track.
Seriously, sometimes the weight game gets a little extreme, it seams almost like an addiction (weight-watchers???).

Some people don't care about weight while some do. Myself personally, I try to get the most out of my car, and getting rid of useless weight is one way to do so. I'm not talking about gutting the entire car, afterall it's a street car, but you'd be surprised what you can find to take off and how much all that removed weight add's up.

The quad shocks were Ford's answer to the wheel hop problems they were having due to thier weak control arms. Some engineer made money off those, strengthing the UCA and LCA's would have been cheaper and more practiacal, but someone had to get a paycheck.

I just put on some HPM Megabite Jr's LCA's just now and debated putting back on the quads. I decided to put them back on so the LCA's will be the only difference. I have D-adjustable uppers comming, after I get those setup I'll throw them out.

Oh I completely understand you and I agrre with the big items if I went all-out track car. But I mean if you get so desperate as to say you can save a lot of weight by taking out your light bulbs, license plate, spoiler, hub cabs, you get the idea - it becomes stupid. But I mean things like pass seat, rear seat, insulation, spare tire and jack, ect. are reasonable and very practical and not what I listed above.
