I'm finishing up the build on my 306 and I'm picking up the entire edelbrock performer package - the smog legal one. I was going to order ford racing valve covers, and pick up the tall ones. Running roller rockers. In addition to this, if I use the tall valve covers, do I need the manifold spacer? Edelbrock has a manifold spacer kit that's .5 inch thick, but it also claims cooler charge and more power?

pedestal or stud mount?

i have stud mounts on my edelbrock's and used fox covers with the baffle removed and grinded the ridge down where the baffle was. i also had to grind where it would hit the alternator.

Pedestal. I'd like to pick up some new valve covers either way.

If you have the room I like the tall VC with the spacer. But depending on the intake you might not clear your hood.

I'm running the edelbrock performer intake. I tried calling edelbrock but the tech support didn't even have a good answer. Guess I'll pick up the tall valve covers and see what happens. Thanks for your input so far. Anybody else?

with my fox covers, my cobra intake cleared after some slight grinding on the egr plate. with my systemax it cleared. so if your vc's are taller than fox's, look to be using a spacer

I run Fox VC's with my RPM and no spacer

I know other Stangers have run the Performer upper and Fox VC's
with no spacer as well

In both cases ... the elbow was used
