WEll JMS has finished their targa top kits for 94+ mustangs. I think they look sweet. There a pic at PIC Here the stats of it.
94-04 Targa Top Kit
What comes with the kit...??
1.We provide formed fit front and rear endcaps and that install via
mounting bolts that mount into the subbody front and rear. No welding and no
fiberglass fabbing..
2.Fiberglass or optional Carbon fiber top with integrated laterally
positioned latching mechanisms (much like the ones seen on the GM t-top
cars) and the pins slide into channels on the front and rear end caps.
3. Instructional Video tape. This tape will show the process from marking
your cut lines to removing the head liner to the actual cut technique in
addition to showing you the exact cut blades to use for a clean cut.
4. Optional extended c-pillar panel..The rear cut leaves about 2" of roof
forward the b-pillar. This was to eliminate the need of a new interior
c-pillar cover and more importantly to not sacrifice the stock subbody
b-pillar joint.
5. Subframe connectors...
6. Weather stripping
7. Removable top storage bag with tie down straps and hardware.
Will my cars rigidity or handling be compromised???
No...The subbody designed by Ford is very strong and incorporates multi wall
design and is similar to many pics you see in mags of full unibody
subbodies.
How strong will the windshield be without the roof??
The A-pillars are multiwalled down to the subbody and the front cut line is
just behind the lateral roof support framing keeping the a-pillars and the
lateral roof support along the windshield whole. We applied extensive pressure on the top of the
a-pillars as well as center windshield. We then were able to rock the car
,which has a very stiff suspension, by the absolute top corner of the
a-pillar with no windshield flex.
The subframe connectors are for added measure as we know how much torque
these cars have and some of them out there have aaaaalllloooootttt of
torque...
Can I take my car to the strip or road race track with this set up.??.
Yes...If you are doing hard launches on slicks and running faster than a
14..we recommend following NHRA guidelines for verts and installing a 4
point or better roll bar and depending on your power beefing up the subframe
connectors is not a bad idea..
How will this affect the cars roll over strength..??
The sliding pins are made from hardened steel and the end cap mounting bolts
are substantial. The b-pillar and lateral roof support is kept whole as are
the a-pillars and a-pillar lateral roof supports. Since the middle section
of the roof and subbody are removed we recommend you exercising your
judgment based on your driving conditions and style. If you are racing
around most of the time and fear a roll over like some verts, installing a
halo cage or at least a 4 point roll bar will be a safety measure that is
inexpensive and easy..
When will the kit be available...??? The kit is available for order now for
late March delivery...Just in time for the shows...
What do I have to paint..??
Just the replacement top needs to be painted if ordered in Fiberglass form..as the endcaps will cover and cut lines on theoriginal sections of the roof.
Can I put the removable top in my trunk?? Yes.. Just fold down the rear
seats and it will slide right in..The storage bag will prevent scratching
and comes with straps and hardware to secure the top while driving.
Finally..How much will this kit cost..??
The plug n play kit starts at just 950.00 plus shipping and comes with a lifetime
warranty..Carbon fiber tops will be extra. Subframes and c-pillar panels will also be optional..
