Stock heads, large cam, stock intake, 30lb injectors....all together make for a bad combination of parts..I don't look at the TB as a factor in the problem..but rather the hole of parts you've compiled.

aleborjas - give us more detail -- all you changed was the throttle body? You didn't change anything else at the same time? Are you absolutely certain you got everything hooked back up/plugged back in the way it was supposed to be? Was the throttle body new? In addition to checking your initial tps voltage (you mean .98?) did you open the throttle to see if it climbed smoothly to 4.5V-5.0V at w.o.t.?

The only way you should've lost any power OR drivability with that swap is if you forgot to connect the throttle cable. Every Explorer and Mountaineer ever built came from Ford with a 65mm throttle body --- it should work just fine on yours, top end and bottom. Something else is wrong - it's not the throttle body causing the problems.

lets say the tps is set at.98, but when at wot it only goes to 3.5v, does that mean the throttle body is not opening all the way?????

Maybe the small tb is the patch that let's the other parts work better.

Try a restrictor plate and see if it gets even faster

did you get the cobra computer on purpose? Most go w/ the A9L because it has the best fuel/spark curves for the 5.0. I'm not saying that's your problem, but just curious.

ninety1gt: If the TPS only reads 3.5 at WOT, then I would assume either the throttle plate isn't open all of the way or the TPS is either not adjusted properly or faulty.

I would also want to check that the TB is opening all the way at WOT.

3.66 volts is not correct for WOT, it should be close or at 5 volts. Sounds like a problem to me....

19's yes for sure, but the chip should go on ebay, not in your car. The chip is a general tune ment to increase the timing for better performance on a stock setup...your best off bumping the timing yourself to 14-16* provided your not pinging. The RPMII is a BIG BIG intake made for big displacement high reving engines...your set up will not be able to take advantage of it at all.

I would not run the chip..the "chip" may infact affect performace, but hey if you have it you certainly can plug it in...if installing the TB affected performance then something that transpired during the install is the cause. You have a miss match of components in my opinion..stock heads mismatched with an aftermarket cam and 30 pound injectors. For me I'd be looking for a set of 19's with a correct calibrated MAF to go with them...set the timing at 14-16 degress if no detonation issues. Next I'd install a adjustable fuel pressure regulator and guage..set the pressure at 39-40 psi and just enjoy the car. But again find the culprit causing the performance issues during the TB install..a TB will should NOT be affecting the performance.
