Ok, a good buddy of mine has a 2000 GT (2v). Please forgive me beforehand, Im an LS1 guy so I dont know much about mustangs, but Im trying to learn. He wants to swap his motor out for a cobra motor (preferably 96-2002) and put a turbo on it. Can you simply swap the heads off a cobra motor and turn the 2v into a 4v? If not, what is involved? I am researching into ways that this can be done easiest and trying to cut any costs that can be cut. The entire bottom end will be forged, so replacing pistons and connecting rods wont be a problem. Any ideas, suggestions, very much welcome.

What he said. It's way more involved than just swapping out heads. AND, if he wants a turbo on it, I would HIGHLY suggest going with a forged internal set up. In no way is this a cheap project.

Why not stick with the 2V, forge the bottom end (pistons, rods, crank) and put a turbo on it. The power would be more with the 4V, but so will the money.

Just an idea.

Thanks for the comments guys. I was wondering the same thing myself about him keeping the 2v. It is a very strong running engine, and like you guys say, would be much easier to do the setup on the current engine (and cheaper). What kind of power outputs (limitations) can be expected with a 2v and a turbo? And should I now move this thread?
