I have an 89' GT 5-speed with trickflow track heat intake, BBK cold air, underdrives, 3:73's. I am planning on getting a set of twisted wedge heads and I was wondering if the trickflow stage 2 or the Anderson Motorsports N41 would be a better cam.

you have so much trick flow stuff i would stay with thier product. i have all edelbrock top end parts, all molidon oil system, all mallory ignition, all comp cams cam, lifter, double roller. i just feel that parts made by the same brand should work well together without a big chance of conflict. what are the specs for the two?

I agree with the above to a degree. The brands tend to design all of their stuff to work well together, however a custom cam IMO is really the best way to go.

i need to buy another cam for my next motor and i was going to look at comp cams again for something in the high .400 lift area. if i build a motor with stock heads and bottom end with carb is it going to make a diffrence on the motor or are they going to cut a cam that has the same specs as some other manufacturer?

I think while most custom cam grinders make their own profiles, you're not really getting a special cam specifically for your engine...you're getting the grind they make that best suits your engine. I've seen the same grind sold to several customers. It's not like they dial up special numbers just for you. A friend of mine ordered a custom cam from a grinder..i won't say who..but it came in a Comp Cams box and he looked up the specs....yep, it was just a run of the mill Comp cam. The "custom" part was the grinder's knowledge of cams and his role in selecting the cam for his build.

Comp charges 299 for their cams, most grinders charge 325-350. Not like they are getting hosed. Especially if that person used up an hour of the grinders time in selecting one.

The other benefit of going custom is for a few extra dollars you can go with a billet core. Supposedly the FRPP letter cams and cheap OTS cams like the Trick Flow stuff are based on a SADI core, which allows for valvetrain flexing and instability at higher RPMS.

What? That sucks man. You can call Comp and have them recommend a cam if that's all you're interested in, sucks that he went through a custom grinder just for that. PM me the grinder's name?

All the hydraulic roller shelf cams i was looking at before were all priced at $299.
FTI, Camshaft innovations etc are all $325 for a custom grind. I'm also talking new, camtrain stuff are things i WONT buy used.
