Does anyone else think that the little tube meant to bring intake sounds into the passenger compartment is just about the dumbest thing??? That is coming out of my new GT as soon as I get it home. I don't want to hear that goofy noise coming out from around my feet. Why mess up a nice quiet ride? The exhaust sounds great, but that doesn't mean I want to hear it when the windows are closed.

It reminds me of this little bike they used to have when I was a kid, it had a plastic "engine" that made all these grrrr sounds when you pedaled around.

Anyone for playing cards in the Mustang spokes ?????

Come on Boys Apparently you never had the sound of a 4bl moaning so loud you thought it was going to suck the hood in. NOW Thats the good old days
and that is one of the things that I love about mine

I know that sound my self! Flip the breather top over and you got a hotrod! I hate to say it, but nothing sounds like a breather top flipped over on a Rochester Quadraajet when you kick in the secondaries. My mother had a 75 Caprise Classic Convertable with a 350, I kept that breather top turned over, unknownst to my father. My dad had a 72 Cady with a 472 that he never drove, so I drove it to high school with the breather top flipped over, that thang soundedd like a jet boat taking off! The 75 Ford Wagon with the 400 that my dad had sounded pretty good, and the front end rose higher, but still it did not sound like a quadrajet!

I like it. Should make the winter months (when the windows are up) more enjoyable.

I swear my car feels quicker with the windows up, probably because of the sound from this thing.

And yes, it definitely resembles an old 4 barrel.

The reason it is there is because too many people complained about how quiet the stang was when it was being tested. So, instead of Ford offering a performance exhaust system for a few dollars more, they went with this thing.

I like it. But, with my exhaust, I can take it or leave it. I do not know how to take it off. Its going to take some kind of plug or something.

I think it sounds good, almost like its growling. Anyone that has gone for a ride in my car complements it as well. To each his own though.

My question is once the stock mufflers are replaced with free flowing ones, can you even hear the engine intake anymore?

On my '78 Z28 with louder mufflers, I can't hear the Holly 4b kick in much.

I have magnaflow magnapacks. They are suppose to be the "loud" mufflers from magnaflow. The sound is INCREDIBLY DEEP. However, when romping on the gas, you can still hear the engine tube sound thingy (whats the official name of this thing anyway?)

Good to hear you can still hear it over aftermarket mufflers, I like the sound, and so far everyone that's ridden in my car does also. I had also read somewhere that there was insulation in this tube and that you could take it out to make it louder, has anyone looked into or tried this? I looked at the tube and it didn't really look like there was much room for anything in there it just looked like a hollow tube but who knows

I'm off this weekend maybe I'll take a gander myself...

If they wanted you to hear the exhaust, they would have routed the pipe fron the rear bumper into the car.

The sound from the tube is the engine, not the exhaust. And I like the idea. Whats the point of having a "pony car" if you never get to hear the ponies when unleashed??? If you want a quiet car, get a luxury car, BMW, Marcedes etc.

I 100% agree, these are muscle cars and you are supposed to hear it and it's suppose to sound like it's going to eat the car in front of you.
