I changed the oil/filter and tuned it up. runs/sounds great. Just fixed the fog lights . Next is purchase nice used white seats (or repair what I have) repaint the hood add the window sticker back on and if nothing else let in sit in the garage. The return on investment is better then the bank pays, plus it should be fun to drive from time to time. Getting this mouse smell out of the heater box looks to be a PITA. Other then the mouse issue and the above items to make it local car show ready there isn't anything to fix...The funny thing at least for me is "the fixing" is half the fun of ownership.

If you've got evidence of mice and smell coming from the heater vents I definitely recommend removing the heater box and duct work ,check and clean it out if needed. That will make some people real sick!
I bought a very similar '87 vert project a few years back. It had sat in a warehouse for 7 years. Needless to say it was infested. I had to remove the dash, heater box, and duct work and clean it out. The heater box was full of nest, mice pee, and poop. I even found a couple dead mice.

Well at least I now know why it sold on "the cheap" the smell is really opens your eyes when the blower motor is on.I guess the only way to get the duct work clean is to remover the dash...That should be an enjoyable job. I had to do that on my 1982 Corvette a few years back. Its amazing the damage these mice can cause.
Yeah its gonna be project for sure! Its not hard just time consuming. Take your time. If you've never done it do a search on heater core replacement and you'll find plenty of helpful step by step info.
While you got it out, you might as well replace the heater core and evaporator cores while you're there. Once you get the little things sorted out you're gonna enjoy that car! I've had a few fox cars (2 verts), and have owned my '88vert since new. Lot-o-fun!
It is a PITA 4-6 hour job. I also recommend putting a restrictor plug in the new heater core hose. Do not get a cheapo auto part store heater core as you do not want to do this again soon.
Thanks for the info. This isn't my first old car that came with the optional mouse house(s) In fact within the last 25 years I've been the proud owner of the optional bad title, optional hidden rust, optional tapping rod bearing when hot (87 GN) and one optional bend frame (70 Boss 302) this is a "walk in the park" The hardest fix was the CT titled 69 Porsche 911. Two owners on the title, Paid the ex-husband ( didn't know he was an Ex)He forged the wife's name, She found out the car was sold to me and had her lawyer contact me instructing me not to attempt to register the car since she didn't sell it. The ex said she did and he wasn't returning his half of the money. Long story short, he said she said and 1200 legal bill to me to fix the problem. I share this because I found out after the fact stuff like this happens all to often when there two owners on the title.... P.S that GN was really,really fast for a mostly stock car
