A friend of mine have a dyno challenge getting ready to take place and it's a $5000 challenge. I would like to make it public right here so there is no way either of us can get out of it.

Now before I enclose the challenge PLEASE no flaming here. My friend is like a brother to me so I don't want any bashing in this thread. He will be reading and replying to this thread. He is out of state so I can not be present at the dyno session.

Here is why the challenge is on. He claims his 91LX can make no less than 450HP at the wheels on a dyno jet. Now here's the combo.

Production block bored to 306 cubic inches 0 decked.
Forged pistions
11:1 compression
Edelbrock RPM 6025's with I believe Stage I or II porting with bowl work.
GT 40 Intake with lowered gasket match porting.
Lunati 50017 camshaft I believe straight up.
Scorpion 1.6 rockers.
70 MM Throttle body.
80 MM Mass Air
30Lb injectors
1 5/8 Long Tubes
2.5 inch H pipe
2.5 inch 3 Chambers dumped
No underdrive pulleys
Timing at 14 degrees I believe

The reward is this. If 450HP is acheived at the wheels I pay $5000 and for the dyno session.

The rules are this. No combo changes, No power adders of any kind, No photoshopped documention. Proof and documentation must be provided and confirmed by reputable shop. As many dyno runs as needed to acheive goal and a few other details.

I post here in the FOX forum for this purpose. You 306 guys please post your combo and dyno numbers for comparison. Thanks for reading.

Joe, what are you going to do with your extra money since there is no way he is making off with it?

I think you can sleep easy knowing you will not have to part with your money. That combo will not hit his goal. Even with SUPER lightweight internals, an aluminum flywheel, G-force tranny with a removed 5th gear, alumm DS, coated pistons/bearings/compustion chambers, the lightest wheels and tires known to man, and a leaf blower he will not hit 450rwhp. That motor just doesn't have the high RPM parts needed to accomplsih such a feat.

Is this $5000 for anyone to break 450rwhp with a 306 or just him?

I do not believe that combo could make 450rwhp, not enough RPM capability out of those parts.

What are you getting if he doesn't hit 450rwhp? I'll be surprised if he breaks 350rwhp.

out of a 306 with that setup, I would say 325-350 to the wheels.

Unless he is reving the motor to 10-12,000rpm I do not see 450rwhp without juice or boost.

my close friend has a r block, 306, lightweight forged piston rod combo, forged crank. 28 oz balanced, revs to 8K conservatively. twisted wedge ported heads, victor rpm II intake, 90mm throttlebody, custom ed cutis cam, elec. water pump, ...... solid drivetrain, N\A , and he put down 451hp(would be just enough to get 5K ) this year with his new aeromotive fuel system, but he has almost all custom work done, and 15 years experience at playing with these cars.

a bored out motor, with over the shelf parts like that, will leave him a good 100 short of his goal

give him pitty, ..........just take $4996.72... so he has enoughto get a gallon of gas to drive his pathetic ass home

Well Vib, I think you will be 5k richer when all is said and done. The combination in my sig only made 316rwhp and I have basically the same stuff as your friend excpept the cam, intake, maf, rr's and of course the extra cubes I have. Granted I can probably get more out of mine because I don't have any dyno tuning done yet but no where near 450rwhp.

Wait wait, I think we are reading this wrong.

Do YOU get $5000 if YOU win? Or is this a one-sided bet?

BTW, you will win.
