I gotta second the recommendations against using rubberized undercoating. I stupidly sprayed this crap ALL over the inside of the notch of my trunk, thinking it would dry solid (like a softer version of Rhino Lining) and I could just leave it as-is without using any carpet and such back there to save weight. Sprayed it on a typical 100* Arizona day. No dice. It rubbed off on EVERYTHING that touched it. Sticky, nasty, stinky crap.
I later scraped the majority of the stuff, cleaned the trunk up, and resprayed it with bedliner. Worked much better, doesn't rub off ... although there's a few spots I missed where the undercoating goop will still get some black poo on your hands when you're reaching under the far corners of the trunk.
I would SERIOUSLY recommend going with a bedliner like Duplicolor, or better yet Herculiner, as it will dry/cure much more thoroughly and not rub off onto everything. I had good luck with rolling Herculiner all over the exterior of an '87 Firebird Formula that I had - it even survived a 45 MPH collision with a Saturn SL1 driven by a stupid old snowbird ... although the frame and body panels, themselves, didn't fare so well...
The stuff I am using is made by duplicolor. So far it has dried well and doesn't rubb off. I'm planning on using a high gloss enamel paint to seal everything up. It's a 90's model. And this isn't what you think. I'm building this car to be able to handle a WIDE range of driving conditions. Mud isn't out of the question. It's just an all around fun car, what ever my pleasure.5.0fox

Just remember dude, it's your car and it fits within your budget, so do whatever you've gotta do to enjoy it. Some people can afford to throw buckets of cash at their cars, some can't.
No I am not going to use a f**king dryer vent as a hood scoop. This thing is a freaking lx hatch that came originally with a 4-cylinder and has 300k plus miles on it. You are all acting like I started out with a 93 Cobra R or something. This car is what it is, if all you can do is make fun of it, I will not bother to post any more pictures. If I ever decide to do ANYTHING about the Hood Scoop (you can put it in quotations all you want that wont make it any less functional) I will buy a damn Hood that is made with dual cowl induction.
You all seem to have really nice flashy mustangs. THAT IS NOT WHAT THIS CAR IS ABOUT. It WILL NOT have candy paint, it WILL NOT have clear lens headlights and tails, it WILL NOT have large piles of cash invested into appearance. Appearance is NOT the point. I don't know how much more clearly I could possibly state that. I will one day set out to build a beautiful Mustang, but today is not that day. If I was going to bother spending 1000s on a mustang build, I would start with a real mustang. A GT, of a rarer breed. Perhaps a T-top or an 20th aniv. Edition, or something worth putting that kind of cash into. There is nothing vintage, collectible, or classic about my little hatchback. And there never will be.
I'm sorry, I don't mean to lash out, but it seems that most of the people posting in this thread have missed the point of what I am doing entirely and just want to poke fun at my FREE hood scoop. That's right, it didn't cost me a dime to make. That's why I did it, that's why I like it. This project has one, and only one goal. "Cheap Power'.
Hey dude...my car is primer and probably will be for a few more years to say the least. I've done things that others have laughed at and said i would fail at doing, and i've done things that really blew people away. I run a carbed car in an age where people think carburetor performance is dead. I ran 10 hole rims for YEARS and loved the hell out of'em (still do, i got the Ponys just because i want lower profile tires for better cornering).
Basically there's two ways you can do things around here....your way or THEIR way. If you want advice, there's NO shortage of it around here because everyone's way is the best way it could ever be doneYou're gonna get flamers around every corner, so it's either roll with the punches or ask for advice and try it their way.
+1 Man. I think the scoop looks awesome! Now if it was fake it would be ghey. But its functional, which is what makes it cool. Cars dont have to look "pretty" to be fast. If it gives you more HP, then more power to ya!
