The chase

True dat! Need to do the whole weekend to get the true taste though... the BBQ'ing, the beer drinking, the race, the boobies, the toothless rednecks, the 4+ hour traffic jams, etc. It's an event everyone needs to experience at least once.

Weekend, that's for part timers. You've got to show up on Wednesday or earlier if you're a true fan. Staying on the infield for five days is the only way to go. Of course it help if we actually get to see a race.

I live so close, I just go for the day

we get in early, grill in the parking lot after checking the haulers, go watch the race, go back to parking lot and grill again. Play some PS2, watch all the people sitting in traffic for 2 hours as we enjoy our food and spirits :D

but seriously, the first time those cars go around, you'll have goose bumps. It's amazing

go to a race. That's all it takes :nice:
+1

Going to a race is much different than watching it on TV. The race itself is more exciting when you can feel the sound of the engines in your chest. Tailgating before and after the race is a necessary part of the NASCAR experience.

I can tell you from personal observation that the NASCAR fans are a much nicer crowd than the spectators at the open wheel races. And my friends in law enforcement and EMS, who work the different races here in Indy, can tell you that they have far fewer people problems at the Brickyard 400 than they do at the Indianapolis 500 and the US Grand Prix.

Kentucky Speedway is about 20 mins from my house, maybe I'll hit one of the few Busch races they get a year. In person I'd probably enjoy it....did someone say boobies....but on TV....snoozefest. But I used to think football was boring and I've just recently started becoming more of a fanatic...maybe in the past 5-7 years.

Kind of hard for a first timer to get infield tickets unless they know somebody! Plus I'm sure I don't have to tell you what is costs to rent a decent RV spot on the infield!

I agree that the total package experience as you describe makes for one hell of a 5-day long party!

The only thing that sounds better than 42 750+HP cars thundering by at 200MPH is two 8000+HP Nitro Top Fuelers going by at 330MPH! :nice: Now that pounds your chest and stops your heart!!!!

Why yes it does. It makes for one expensive 6-day party when they get rained out on Monday and you've got to get the RV back. :nice:

At least we got to see the Busch race and some half ass concert.
