I dont wanna turn this into a LS1 vs 4.6L thread, buuut

It is always funny when me and my chevy buddies get into a dicussion and I bring up the point that the 05 4.6L made the same HP stock as a ls1 that had 67cuin more displacement. they never have a comeback for that

the 4.6L has always made more HP per cubic inch than any of it's v8 counterparts.

But the LS1 uses 1 cam and 16 valves. It's lighter and physically smaller. It also makes 350hp whereas the 9 yr newer 3v makes 300. It can be stroked to 427+ cubes. They make a ton more HP in N/A form. They're easier to work on. They have more aftermarket parts. BTW, it's a 65 cube difference

I've beaten too many LS1's at the track to have any respect for them, I dunno, just me. But, my capri is always laughed at, the ugly duckling wannabe mustang....lol, it's sooo much fun smoking everyone with it, it's sooo light, and, just flies...and with a stock 5.0 bottom end to boot. Against my '99.....god it feels like a nasty beast, but, I appreciate being able to stop and turn in the '99, so, I guess it makes up for it

what about 98 2V vs. 98 LS1?

Yep even then.. what was base for a 4.6L? 210?

so that equates to 1.33hp/cuin for the 4.6L and the LS1 was in the 305 range wasnt it? 1.13 for them.

actually 66 347-281

and when did they make 350 stock?

The fourth-generation Camaro's first (and only) extensive visual update came for 1998 with a new front fascia design. But the real news lay behind that face where the C5 Corvette's new-age all-aluminum small-block LS-1 V8 took up residence in the Z28. The 5.7-liter LS-1 was the first all-aluminum engine offered in a Camaro since the '69 ZL-1 and carried a thrilling 305-horsepower rating (base Camaros kept the 200-horsepower 3800 V6). GM took over production of the SS itself this year, as well, with the ram-air induction system boosting the LS-1 to 320 horsepower.

Yeah but my math was off.. i musta been high lol

here are the correct numbers

4.6L .92HP per CUin.

LS1 .87HP per CUin.

I had the numbers inverted on the last post

and the 98 4.6L would be a loser once again with .80.... I stand corrected

LS1 is 346ci and a 6-speed puts down 295-310rwhp on average. That would equate to about 350 flywheel HP.
