I'm doing a swap with my buddy from the stock 5.0 manifold to teh cobra manifold. We have taken everything off except the heater tubes, and we are having trouble getting a particular part off, let me show you what i'm talking about

and

We tried taking a wrench to the bottom part, since it looks like there is some sort of cap, and we can twist the cap because its hooked to the metal tube railing. Anybody know how to take this off?? Please help, thank you.

The nut spins freely, and it will come off takes a 1.125" or 1.25" wrench.

It can be very difficult to get the fitting to break loose from the manifold because of corrosion. Shoot it with some PB Blaster and let it sit a couple of days. If you need to replace it (a good idea really, it made of thin steel and can rust right through) it was still available from Ford. I know that www.50resto.com has them for about 60 bucks or so.

If its never been off, than the factory thread sealer is like freakin JB Weld, and they can be a mother to break loose...

Yeah, it is going to be tough. A friend who is a mechanic said to heat it up a bit, and introduce it to mr. rubber mallot.
