SWTSWNG said:Too many excuses. The temp, altitude and track conditions are BS. These cars came out end of Oct/early Nov. unless you live on the sun, you got some pretty good temps to run. Not everyone lives in colorodo so altitude should not be an issue. As far as track prep, these cars hook better than any other mustang ever has. People are cutting 1.9s on the 60'.
Maybe I am like firebird guy....maybe these cars aren't as fast as people hoped!!

When it comes to comparing times, if you aren't comparing them at the same track, on the same night........... about all they are good for is a guideline. Also, every driver is different............ and as many who have driven this car at the track say, it runs completely different than any other Mustang they have ever driven. Thus, there is a learning curve.
To expect the very best times available the second a completely redesigned new car comes out, is assinine.
Case in point on times. I can go to Firebird with my Lightning, and run a 14.0............. as Firebird sucks (everyone knows how poor the track prep is there). I can take my very same truck, on the very same night, to Speedworld........... which is about 40 miles away. With the very same conditions (within a degree or two), I can run a 13.5.
Now, did my truck get mysteriously more powerful while I drove those 40 miles to Speedworld??? Of course not. Did I drive it better at Speedworld??? Of course not, its an automatic. The single difference is the track.
The good 60' times show that the cars launch very strong. However, as some are finding out, the key to decent times is the shift point. Again............. this is learning curve.
Some of you must be very young. You probably also believe that every dyno will read the same.
Sorry, you misunderstood the reason for my reply. I'm trying to point out why one guy will report a 13.6 while another 14.0.Too many excuses. The temp, altitude and track conditions are BS.

All the sudden, WHAM, it's a pissing contest; people bashing other people and their cars. You all made good points, but with too much insulting and such in between. Fact is track conditions do matter (most likely not a whole half second but they do matter). Heck, tire pressure matters. The main thing that everyone seems to agree on is the driving skills. MM&FF might get the 05 into the mid to low 13's. who knows? Car and driver hit 13.8. Maybe some people will get lucky, while others won't. Who cares? Firebirds are cool cars, mustangs are cool cars, etc. The real enemy is those darn imports! So take your fast mach 1, your fast mustang gt, your fast firebird...whatever, and go beat some rice ass and stop insulting each other.
SWTSWNG said:You are right. I was just making a point. I love all mustangs. I have just been disappointed with times the new one is getting. Everyone knows that conditions matter. My point is that I have seen half a dozen time slips from 05 guys that have been slower then expected. Some ran at great tracks with good 60' in low 60* weather. I wasn't directing it to this ONE single timeslip. It seems like NO ONE has gotten times in the '05 that everyone expected.
