time slips, or reliability(depending the build style) are what proves that, not the ****ing color of the engine

I couldn't agree more, which is what I look do with mine. But I don't think the 5 minutes I took to paint the motor hurt the performance any. If it did, I'm yanking it and stripping the paint tomorrow...

Yes I second that! They are different and really stand out nicely.

On the topic of painting the block.........each to their own. I like what you have done so far and it's your car, thanks for sharing the pics. Whatever you do just don't be in a rush (not that you are rushing it but time constrained), I've redone things like 5 times because I didn't do it the way I wanted the first time.

Keep 'em coming!

we arent rushing. i have to have this be reliable, so time is being taken where it needs be, which is why i am not spending time on some of the little "touch up" things.

I painted my engine..............I even put an orange stripe on the phenolic spacer to match the engine bay and the valve covers. lol

Just playin, being a restoration guy, I like things to look good just as much as perform well. I like people saying "wow, that looks awesome and it goes like hell". But to each his own.
Your gonna have fun with that little set up, I have the same exact set up as you. You'll def have a good runner there.

Yea, I also plan on building somethin real radical down the road. My car is a little more an in depth project so not cleanin up the engine wasn't a choice for me.

failed to do any research on the matter, but have read enough threads to learn my stock valve springs arent good enough. so, she's going under the knife monday to get the tfs valve spring up grade, and the AC delete.

looks good. I see you had the BFH out on top of the engine. I still love those valve covers.

i had the dead blow out for the valves. after installing the new springs and keepers, and removing the shop air from the cylinder you tap the valves with the dead blow to seat the keepers and retainers.

and thanks about the VC's
