I still have a pinging problem at high speeds,,when going up hills !! I just noticed today(havent washed it in 4 days!) the tips of my lx chrome tailpipes are black,,whats that mean?
It's runnin' too rick. If you pull your plugs, they'll probably be black as well.
Is your egr system working and where is the timing set at. Also, what grade of gas are you using?

How can you tell if egr is working? My timing is at 10 degrees,,I know I shouldnt need 93 octane,,but if I dont it pings worse.

Trace the vacume line backwards starting at the egr valve. It goes to the egr solenoid and then to the vacume source. Make sure you have vacume at the feed line to the egr solenoid. Then connect a vacume gauge, if you have one, to the hose at the egr valve. Rev the engine, you should see vacume. If not, the problem could be the egr solenoid or the ecm is not sending the command to the solenoid to cycle it on and off. :nice:

**Thank you very much!!I will do this in the morning,,I'LL let you know :nice:

Hey PRO50SC,,your not gonna believe this,I solved the problem!! This morning I went under the hood for a visual, but everything looked real good! So I was going to Sears to buy a vacum gauge,,but before I left I wanted to try something.About a month ago I put a 75mm Pro-M bullet maf on,when I first put it on it ran really bad.So mike Keirstead told me to twist the unit 90 degrees,so I turned it,but only about 45 degrees and it ran much better. So this morning, just for the hell of it I turned it 45 more, then set out to Sears.By the time I got there I turned around and went back home."That was it"! It even feals like I picked up a few hp,you can here the difference in the exhaust!! Real weird,,but it worked,Thanks anyway :nice:

would that be my problem, my spark plugs are always black with carbon, and my tailpipes are black and my car pops on deaccel? I took off my vacum hose to the egr and theres not sucking, does it suck only if i rev it>? And what do I do if theres something wrong with the ECU, do i just get a new on, is there anyway to fix that??
