I have not seen much talk about Thermostats on this site, but I see that Hypertech makes Thermostats for our cars in 160* and 180* range.

Does anyone have one of these? I used a 160* on a few cars before from Hypertech, MR. Gasket etc. But I didn't think they had them for our 05+ cars.

My big question aside from the obvious reprogramming the fans is: Does this effect anything in the engine. The other cars with VVT I have tuned are sensitive to coolant temperature since cam phasing is determined in those cars by oil pressure, engine temp, load, etc.

Will they mess up our cars VVT? or anything else for that matter?

Interesting as I was pondering the exact same thing. In the LSx world, thermostats/fan reprogramming is one of the generally accepted items that is done to nearly all.

That's what I was thinking. I didn't think there was a lower temp therm at first, but now I need to see if its going to be an easy fix and if so, here I come!

Any more ideas about it?

I allways heard it would efect the pollutuion controls to run lower temp t-stat. The car needs to run at 195 to help burn off emissions.

It's true that you need proper cylindcer temps to control emmisions. But I haven't owned a car with a Catalytic converter since 2005, so I don't really care.
