They're here, you guys!!!!! My AFR 185s just arrived about an hour ago. They are beautiful. I forgot how HUGE 2.02 valves are. I must have stared at them for about 15 minutes straight.....I was drooling and stuff

Ok guys, you knew this question was coming. How much should I expect to gain? Here's the combo:

AFR 185 heads(using copper head gaskets because they are thicker)
Edelbrock Performer 5.0 intake
70mm TB
stock cam (to ensure p/v clearance)
1.6 stud mount roller rockers
stock shortblock
1 3/4" Mac longtubes
2 1/2" x-pipe
the rest of my mods are in my sig.

I'll be interested to see how much you put down, you're the only person I know of off-hand that will have 185's on a stock shortblock. Time to find out if they kill of any significant amount of torque at low RPM.

Well, I know I'm gonna lose some low end, but I'm hoping the stock cam will keep me with a some of my low end torque. It should pull hard on the top end though...........right?

A bit off topic, but why the thicker head gasket? Do those heads increase compression too much?

thicker gasket also helps ensure proper ptv clearance? even though i think it's going to be close ..

Well, since I'm using these heads with 2.02 intake valves I need to make sure I have enough clearance between the intake valve and the pistons. Stock pistons don't have big enough valve reliefs for 2.02 valves to clear. So, by me using my stock cam they should clear but i'm getting the thicker head gaskets to get more clearance.

That describes EXACTLY how I felt when I was a teen and saw my first live, close up hooters on my girlfriend
