Thin red wire to solenoid

So my car has been sitting in the garage for over a week because it wouldnt start. Figure now is the best time as any to start troubleshooting.

So heres what happens: When I turn the key, nothing happens with the engine.. The RPM's move a bit but thats all. I have battery and all the obvious things, the solenoid is new, all the + wires on the solenoid look good. The thin red wire on the top of the solenoid, however, is in bad shape. It is stripped in a few places and doesnt look good. Could this be causing the problem?

If so where does it connect to and where can I get it?

The red wire with the blue stripe goes to the ignition switch.
do a search on Jrichker he has all sort of diagroms and helpful hints that will probably fix your problem.

i was in the same boat as you, mine was all cracked up and very bad looking, i took my wire and traced it back as far as i could, cut it, crimped and heat shrinked a new wire in, then ran it all the way back to my solenoid and put a connector end on it and plugged it up, no problems at all

Cool, so your car was doing the same thing? Where did you get a new connector end for it? Also where do you get heat shrink?

By the way, people compliment me on my avatar all the time.. But I bow to yours.. lol

haha i prec that, yeah mine was doing something similar, so i replaced the solenoid, power and ground wires, just get the heat shrink from auto zone or somewhere, and i used a connector like this.... http://www.the-hdb-store.com/servlet/the-CONNECTORS-cln-CRIMP-TERMINALS/Categories any one that u can crimp the wire into it, and it have to open end that u can use to slide over the bolt on the solenoid where the old wire was connected
