I know that Mike Durhan and David Kee specialize in the toploaders but other than that, I don't know much. Both guys sell a 4speed TL for about the same price. If anybody with one of their transmissions would care to share the benefit of their experience with me, I would appreciate it.
Aside from the trans, consider that you'll need a bellhousing, complete clutch-assembly, flywheel, clutch-linkage, pedal assembly and quite possibly more. Possible? Sure, depending on the thickness of your walet.
I'm just curious as to why a 4 speed? You are obviously not concerned with maintaining originality for your car, and even a 5 speed is old school these days, so for the expense of what you are doing, why make a lateral change? Don't get me wrong, I like 4spd's. Hell, I've only got a 3spd in my car, but if/when it comes time to fix/replace I'd likely go at least to a 5 or 6 spd unless someone was practically giving the 4 away.
