I just sold my motorcycle, and i am possibly looking into a s/c, what are some of the problems with this, and some of the pluses(sp). Anyhow, do i REALLY need a dyno tune if i get a fmu, see, im debating a h/c/i and a s/c, however you can get a good used sc for like 1500, and a h/c/i is more like 2,000+ and more work, also i believe you get more power with a s/c. Anyhow, give me some ideas, thanks

i put aside 1500 for my supercharger install and ended up paying over 3k, and my car is still not done. i was debating the same thing but bought the blower cause i thought it would be easier to install. im going to run 10#'s and if i blow a gasket im going ot buy some gt40P heads and do a home port job on them along with a mild cam

Not that this answers your questions completely, but in a year or so, I'll be getting a fresh 306 block complete with Edlebrock Performer Aluminum heads and Performer Intake (must meet emissions, so nothing more agressive). A mild cam will be installed also. As this is being installed under the hood, a Vortech with 8-9 psi will be installed as well. I believe that higher quality gaskets will be used throughout due to the s/c. Since I have to keep emissions in mind, this setup will net me a solid foundation AND the s/c will put me in the horsepower range I desire (350+ flywheel hp).

Basically, my goal is too have a block that can handle the hp and remain reliable for many years. Used s/c's are ok, but make sure you got all the right parts AND a good installer, if not doing it yourself. Proper injectors and fuel stuff is important, but once it's all together, there is no substitute for a good tune.

Depending on your mileage, I would go with h/c/i and plan on the s/c later. When you do h/c/i, you'll have the advantage of putting on fresh gaskets. s/c are nice, but I firmly believe in building on a good solid foundation. As you can see above, I'm not looking at anything too wild, but in the end, my setup will be very reliable and should provide years of enjoyment as a daily driver.

Good luck. :)

H/C/I along w/ a S/C is going to push you at 500 RWHP, not everyone wants that. Thats exactly why I put on my paxton w/ my stock heads and cam. Im getting mine dyno tunned next saturday and its been on the car for almost a month now.......no blown HG yet w/ 120,000 Miles on the stock HG

HG blow more often due to improper tunes ( running to lean ) or to much timming, not b/c of gaskets just plain being old
