Well, not COMPLETELY, but it looks like curiosity is about to get the best of me. I've owned more f-bodies than I can shake a stick at, but I've always wanted a Mustang. I'm looking for a nice clean un-modded 01+ GT in blue or grey, 5 speed of course. I have a few questions, if you don't mind answering them!

1. What are some good bolt ons to start off with? I can build an LS1 in my sleep but Ford motors are alien technology to me.

2. How much power can the stock 5-speed handle?

3. Comparitively speaking, how hard are they to work on?

Thanks guys, I've been looking forward to this!

Dark side? You are now seeing the light!

The modular motors are easy to work on, but not as easy as the pushrod days of the 5.0.

Mods are more $$$ than 5.0s, but you also get more bang for your buck, as these engines respond well to enhancements in air and fuel intake/exhaust.

The stock 5 speed for part of 2001 is the T-45 and mid 2001-2004 is the Tremec 3650. There is a TSB on the 3650 and you can read about it here:

It is acclaimed to handle up to 600hp, I think.

Good bolt-ons are gears, TB and plenum, mid pipe, mufflers, heads, cams. Oh yeah, and a blower! :nice: That is, if you have the cash.

Browse the 4.6L Tech forum and you'll find a lot there! There are some stickies that have mod surveys and gear videos.

Have fun and let me know if you want any other info!
