Thinking of nitrous.

My car is pretty fast as it is.

Has a good HCI combo and i lightened it up as much as possible.

the bottom end has 150k miles on it and so far it doesnt consume a whole lot of oil. But the oil does get dirty faster than a usual car, thats just the nature of the beast i guess.

anyway i want to run a 75 shot of nitrous so i can safely say i will hit 11s on radials.

Assuming the engine was moderately taken care of throughout its life and now its being very well taken care of, how should it hold up to a wet/dry shot? and what shot should be used, wet or dry?

Combo is,
AFR165s
trickflow cam
1.6 RR
explorer intake
70mm TB
long tubes catless H
3.73s
all control arms and rear shocks, no quads
255 lph pump
73mm MAF

I like how the trickflow cam favors exhaust, this would be perfect for the nitrous. But given the above circumstances, will i be ok?

A 75-100 dry shot would be nice for you. I would do a 255 high pressure pump, autolite 3923's gapped @ .035", new fuel filter and run 8-10* timing on spray. As long as the a/f is nice, you shouldn't have any problems. Enjoy

Thinking of runnig a little stealth set up with a Zex kit myself. I will be running a 190 pump 8Deg and 3923's as listed...hopefully the 190 pump will fill the need for the 75 shot to be run. I would not be wanting to run anything more than the 75 on a higher mile motor and or being untuned. With Grn92lx's advice you should have a nice punch with a safe conservative setting of timing and slight increase of FP..I'm thinking 42-43 lbs.

i have a 255 walbro, are you saying that is not enough to supply fuel for a theoretical 360 rwhp? why must it be high pressure?

I have 24s right now, should i go for a wet shot with fogger plate?

The std 255 should be fine. I just prefer high press 255's with dry kits becuse you want a pump that can supply the demends of high pressure which is what happens when dry kits spike the fuel pressure to 70-80psi.

For what you're looking to do a cheap dry kit is more than fine. I liked my dry kit better than the wet kit I had.

Thanks for all the info,

one last thing!!

With all these new adjustments for the nitrous, i.e. colder plugs, reduced timing and more fuel pressure. My car will run like a dog NA, I want it to be just as fast as it is now NA and then some with the nitrous.

I just dont want to suffer when not spraying.

you can use the Bag O nitrous with a 50 shot dry all day long and prolly wont have to retard your timing. That is something you will have to play with. If it doesnt feel right then you have to reduce timing. On my old cobra I didnt retard my timing with my dry kit.........and it did fine, but I was never spraying over 100 with it that way.
The 255 pump will be fine. .........just make sure to pay close attention to everything (which it sounds like you will) and you should be fine.

i run regular champion plugs as suggested by edelbrock with 150hp Nitrous Express wet shot, i have the msd adjustable timing to adjust 8-10 dgerees in the car when i open the bottle, after i turn off the bottle i turn it back up to 12-14 degrees. The car runs great all the time. Also i dont know about 11's but good luck....

I would recommend the NOS dry system because if you lose fuel pressure the safety switch cuts off the juice, saving your engine. The Msd multi step retard works great like 92notchback says and you can plug in the amount of retard...both work great. I installed mine in 1992, never had a problem.
