Well I have a Silver Stang GT 2006 with 9000 miles Automatic (I didnot want}Ratter have had manual
It also has a Shacker 1000 (but wanted shacker 500 instead}
I got the Car for $27,780 INVOICE MSRP was $30,125

When I traded in my 2003 Stang GT they went by Kelly Blue Book as a trade in.

I thought that they may be making many more Stang Gts for the 2007 year?
I have seen in the SOUTH a few months back you could have got a Stang GT at Invoice because many dealers had 40 stangs and 15-20 were GTs in Stock.........

I am thinking of calling the dealers that have many 2007 stang Gts IN STOCK in the SOUTH in the next few months.(by then they should have a few}
And maybe I can get a 2007 at the Invoice price since they were selling at Invoice with the 2006s GTs...

Kelly Blue Book says my 2006 Stang Gt is worth $25,225 as a tradein.......
So I feel I am down grading from the Automatic and Shacker 1000
too a Manual and shacker 500.....
I feel the price at invoice should be at around $26,000 in the balll park at INVOICE?
So I feel I will get the new 2007 Orange Gt and I will lose no money if I shop around a bit..........

The orange ones dont tickle my fancy either. At first I thought the "Grabber Orange" was going to be the color of the GM cars...that metallic orange. But no....i was wrong.

I thought you had already ordered an 07 JT? You will get shafted in a deal like that. Most dealers will not give you that deal. Good luck.
Yep I still have my order in for a 2007 GT,,,just wondering if the dealer does not get the car as soon as he says,maybe then I can check around and see if any other dealers will give the car to me at Invoice.....
But I would think if you are trading a car in that the dealer will have to get the used price off of a Guide of some sort.
Otherwise I can shop around a bit and see who will give me top dollar.SubwayTrain

If you think any dealer will give you $25,225 trade in on your 06 Stang for an 07 for $26K invoice price, you're dreaming.

Yea I can be dreaming but what do you say a Loaded 2006 GT with Automatic and Shacker1000 is worth with 9000 miles on it?
Yes I can sell it Private maybe for more money I would think.But I find it more easy just to trade in my cars when its time too.
I don't really find its time too trade in the car but its nice to see what I can get for it.......The 2007 Stang Gt is for the wife lol.....Hate paying monthly payments on anything.......SubwayTrain:SNSign:

dealers, carmaax, etc are still asking 25000 for 05 gt coupes with a few thousand miles on them, but most likely you will take a bath on the trade in. kbb on the 03 i traded in was 9100 dealer gave me 11500, got my car 500 under invoice so i cant complain. its all about supply and demand.

You have a couple problems.
Options don't mean all that much for resale value. Look at NADA for which options really have value.

2007 Mustangs have already started to arrive on dealer lots. This event instantly lowers the value of 05 & 06 Stangs. The dealer knows that anything they take in trade is going to go down in value so they have to be able to price it for a quick sale or ride it out and still make a profit. Yea, they will try to keep prices of 05s & 06s up as long as they can, but prices are going to drop.

Figure that within a couple months 05 GT coupes will be selling in the low 20s and 06's 24K - $25K. To me that means the most a dealer will give you for it is $23K - assuming that you are paying invoice on the 07. If you pay sticker for your 07 the dealer may give you $25K trade in. But the net price is the same as $23K trade in and invoice for the 07.

One more problem you can face is if your dealer has too many Mustangs in stock. This means that they will not want your 06 as a trade in. In this case what they will do is look at recent wholesale auction prices and offer you that auction amount because that's what they'll do with your 06, send it to auction.

You are right 351CJ if the dealer has many Stang Gts in stock...
Up in the Northeast I have not seen many dealers at all with Mustang Gts,I am starting to see a few Gts on the road in my area 2 not counting mine.
Most dealers stillll have many V6s and no Gts in stock around here,I passed a medium size dealer by the Mall this week and saw many V6s in front of the dealer but no Gts.
Maybe in many parts of the country there might be 100s of Gts around but in the Northeast you can still see many V6s but maybe see a Gt every few weeks.......
Very happy with the 06 Gt but if I can get a deal why not......
And as you say maybe I can get $23,000 from a dealer for a tradein,I think Invoice on the 2007 Stang Premium at invoice is $26,049......So I am out $3000,But if I sell it Private maybe I can make up the differance.SubwayTrain

I'm not a car dealer so my opinion may not be worth much.

The only way you'll know for sure is to go visit a couple dealers and find out what they'll offer you.

I'm in the Northeast too. Up until the beginning of April there were very few GTs at the dealers near me. But in the last 2 months they've gotten a lot of 06 GTs in.

Some of the dealers have a several used 05 GTs for sale. They've been advertising them at insane prices, $26K - $29K for coupes. However, many of these same used 05 GTs have been sitting on the dealer lots since February. It's obvious that customers aren't about to pay that much for a used 05. I'd say that these dealers paid way too much for their used 05 GTs when they couldn't get new GTs, are now stuck with them and will end up selling them at a loss.

I have been seeing more Gts since april,,,only on the road and not on dealer lots.....Yes I have seen one or two on some lots but most only have V6s[Long Island area and Jersey}
When I get around to it I will checkout to see what they will give me,,,,,,I will have to make sure that they have many Gts in stock first or maybe if I can get a good price at a small dealer that does not get any Gts,sell it and then look elsewhere for a good price............
