With all due respect, you are SOL. It's been well over a year. The shop has fulfilled their part of the bargain. If you bring it back to have him work on it again, ask about purchasing an extended warranty for a couple more years.
I don't think mentioning the contact points of an aftermarket shifter that he didn't install or buy for you is going to help your case.

Actually, I think GTA was talking about the fork wear pads (the little white nylon dudes) on the shift fork themselves. The problem with that is you have to have the tranny out and apart before you can see them. At that point, he'll have you for the cost of removal and disassembly at the least. I'm glad that I've been able to tackle everything I've had to do to the car so far by myself (or with a friend's help) to save myself from the mechanic headache.
