How are you going to determine what constitues a fake Saleen & what doesn't? Will it be based on whether or not the vehicle looks more like a Saleen than other vehicles? Will it be whether or not the vehicle has authentic Saleen parts vs. a vehicle that uses counterfeit look-alike parts? Will it be based on the % of parts used, sort of like the domestic content disclosure on new vehicles?

It could become a "fake but accurate" scenario.

I understand Dan Rather is currently available to make such a determination...

we wont worry about they guys who just put the saleen body kit on a mustang or those who use a saleen supercharger... i think we need to divide the faleen registry into 2 parts... one part for legitimate clones (i.e. the owner admits to not having a real saleen, just a look alike), and one part for the frauds that are actually being passed off as a true saleen. that way we keep tabs on the frauds, and give props to the honest guys, by giving them a registry of their own... kinda like how they added the new GT500Es to the shelby registry...

Maybe we could create a Faleen Penal Code System. (FPC).

We could divide the code into two separate sections like Chase said:

FALEEN PENAL CODE SYSTEM
ADOPTED BY SALEEN OWNERS AND FANATICS FEBRUARY OF 2006

Section A, Misdemeanor violations of the FPC:
Altering a Mustang or any motor vehicle to have the appearance of a Saleen when it is not.

Section B, Felony violations of the FPC:
Making the fraudulent misrepresentation that your vehicle is an actual Saleen when in fact, it is not.

I hereby encourage all interested applicants to apply as a member of the FALEEN TASK FORCE as mentioned by Fastbackchase and that we report all potential perpetrators immediately.

Our mission will be to preserve the authenticity and integrity of bad @ss cars.

If anyone would like to amend the Faleen Penal Code system to add additional violations, please feel free.

We still need to add punishment/sentencing guidelines for offenders.

I can sense corruption in the near future... offenders paying off task force officials "to look the other way" not to mention.....judges of the sentencing getting a little "somthin' somthin'" under the table! Maybe this wasn't such a good idea

Hey Marcus,
thanx man! that means alot as i have always felt comfortable here w/ guys like you & George & a few others. i also came across a good score as far as Saleen parts go. i recently bought a real Saleen/FloFit interior from an 87 Saleen. in nice condition too & all matching interior front & rear. it was a deal i stumbled on & couldnt pass up especially since its all real & all original. my car has parts from about 6 different Saleens now LOL. thanx again man!

Since this thread has taken a tangent regarding fake Saleens, here is the obvious fake that took 1st place @ the San Diego Mustang Club show this past October:

This was the same vehicle that was parked next to my Saleen Cobra Speedster (you can see mine in the background of one of the eBay photos) & prompted my little rant about fakes being accepted in the Saleen/Signature class at Mustang shows.

Interesting coincidence that it shows up on eBay a few months later.
