Whats the deal with NO REAR BRAKES! I did a search on it seems alot of us foxbody guys run into this.Iam having this problem with my 83'; last summer this happened and i never could figure it out. I went out and got a new master cylinder, new wheel cylinders none of that fixed it. Seems at times the rear brakes will work but, not all the time. I have toyed with the going with the 87-93 stuff but, i would like to know why the brakes on the car now refuse to work. Has Anybody on here has ever figured out the no rear brakes problem?

Could be a number of things.

I recently had the rear seals go out on my 2.3L, which caused the rear drums to be contaminated with dif fluid.

In 96 I paid Ford $1,400 to completely rebuild my Stock Mustang brake system.
I could have bought the 5 lug Cobra disc conversion kit for $1,500.
The stock brakes were shot again in a year.
My point is... the stock stuff simply sucks. Not just performance wise, but in terms of durability as well.

Start looking for some rear disc conversion parts is my recommendation.

I fought the same thing for awhile. Turned out I bought a bad master cylinder. But I did replace the prop. valve, installed a adjustable prop. valve, and braided lines. It helped a lot. Good luck.
