Those with Saleen Front bumper, please read

OK, i cracked my bumper last weekend and have decided that now is a good time to get that saleen front end ive always wanted. i was wondering, where did you get yours, and how is the fit'n'finnish? all things considered, ill pay a little more for better quality control. ill only buy a urethane one, not fiberglass. ive seen them at www.abcexclusive.com for almost half what it costs for the genuine saleen. but if it looks like hell, ill pay for the origonal. so, help me out guys, please.

thanks in advance:SNSign:

Saleen stuff is a nightmare from what I have heard. Not only from people here but i debated getting the whole body kit at one point (i needed a new front bumper anyway) and my body shop told me that their stuff was really hard to work with and not always of the highest quality. It is because they send it to you as it pops out of the mold. It requires ridiculous prep work and even then it is not guaranteed paint will stick. I ended up getting a 99-01 cobra bumper and couldn't be happier.

I bought all my "real" Saleen stuff from Speedworx. They just had the stuff drop shipped from Saleen to my house. My dad owns a body shop and complained about the quality, with little pin holes that took a little bit of prep work to fix. After all was said and done everything fit great!! The only Saleen part that I didn't like was the side sail panels that are above the rear 1/4 windows and run to the rear window. They were fiberglass and didn't fit match that good upto the rear window.

Hey Guys, heres some new info on the 99-04 Saleen products. Saleen has just redone all of the molds for the 99-04 body pieces. They are allot beter than before.....fitment and prep time. The rear fascia "Saleen " letters are MUCH better looking!

he is correct, i had to have my bumper replaced after someone backed into me and my uncle did the work at his body shop and said the saleen bumper took a ridiculous amount of prep work and alot of sanding...and it was genuine saleen parts

All of our parts have been re-tooled and will have a much better fitment and paint procedure then in the past. Keep in mind that most body shops are used to painted factory parts from Ford, etc..... this is why we re-tooled ours. the quality is 100% better form the past.

Chris00GT, you know anyone from Kauffman motorsports? how far are you from the lebanon area, i mean, is york springs near york? or what? if possible, maybe i could see yours in person sometime

Ya, I know a few people that work at the shop. I used to work there full time. The shop is about 30 minutes from York and about the same from Harrisburg.

my spoiler took me 2 years and 4 trips to bodyshop to get it close to right.
It look good. But in the end, it ended up geing almost $1000 spoiler.....
Altough, I don't care for ABC exclusive stuff, it might just be better quality then real Saleen stuff.
I would never buy Saleen products again! Ever!!

Well, may be factory Saleen....

i don't think thats the only issue with their stuff. the biggest issue with mine(other then it showed up looking like went through twester), was the pin holes and excessive amount of release agent that filled those holes. no matter now many times we degrease it, and use filler or primer, those release agent kept seeping up and lift paint up. at least on mine, probrem was local(around key hole area) that we ended up sanding down 1/8 or so material off of cerface and bild it back up with filler. That finally fixed issue.

Bad mold is, IMO, only part of an issue. I think the probrem with Saleen stuff were bad mold, just poor quality control, and almost non-exsistant costomer service.

I would still advise against buying saleen product. Until at least i see thread stating how good their stuff is poping up as frequent as thread stating how bad their stuff is.

Just my opinion

Yes this is true! The recent Saleen body parts that we have received are much better than in the past. Saleen has completely restructured the production processes for a much better quality product.:)

I advise everyone to avoid Saleen. You are better of with copied parts. In the years I've been on this board I have heard nothing but nightmares about Saleen body kits and rims. They have appalling customer service and are over-priced.

No disrespect to Haney Motorsports, they are great.

As stated above...the parts fit better and are better quality than before. I had to replace one of my side mouldings. It got damaged at the dealership when it was new and the dealer covered it. The new part that Saleen sent was a lot better quality than it used to be. Didn't look like it really needed any prep work.
