i have a few questions. theres a guy selling a used "kit" here in town and he said everything is included except the FMU. what exactly is included in the kit? also, i know this has been covered a hundred times, but can i just slap a s/c kit on an otherwise stock car, get a safe tune, and be ok? i tried a search for this, but couldnt find anything. thanks for the help, mods in sig

The FMU is for the older set-up. Who's selling the kit and what's the price. Keep in mind you'll need to get a good tune and possible other supporting mods...

some guy with a mach 1 is selling it. he said he bought it used, then decided he didnt want to try to make it work on a 4v. he wants $800. i know i'll need a good tune also, where did you get yours? ive heard CCS is the best, but they charge ~$650 for a tune :( what other supporting mods might i need? fuel pump? the kit is supposed to come w/ injectors, i just hope he has them. i asked him what was included and he said "everything but the FMU, head unit, bracket, everything". it sounded a little shady, but i'll go check it out. he also has the 10# pulley on it

don't forget you'll need a new mounting bracket for the head unit, unless of course it's for the same year(s) of stang
he said it would fit all 2000-2004 2v GTs w/ PI heads

CRAP lol. Well Derek just buy it and make it work lol. For $800 I shure as heck would.(im holdin out for the KB :D ) Worst case you will need a fuel pump, injectors, and may need to tap into your oil pan. Ofcourse you will need a tune too. Um i would also buy a 8PSI pully if its not intercooled. 10PSI is going to make alot of heat and PERSONALLY I would lower the boost a tad. However there are people that run 10#s W/O an IC. But if you stay shy of 400 then it will last a while, granted your not beating on it. Look for around 330RWHP on Jims dyno.

For starters, you're going to want the blower, bracket, piping, oil feed, oil drain, and pulley. I honestly think this guy bought a kit off a '96-98 car and realized it'd be too much to make it work.

If it does fit your car, you'll need the following:
Injectors, fuel pump, Maf(optional but definitely recommended), chip/flasher w/ tune.

As far as paying $650 for a tune, it's worth it if they're good.

Fuel pump svt focus will do.
Maf, Lightning is a good choice.
Larger fuel injectors at least 36lbers I prefer 42lbs.
The Sc head unit
The Sc mounting bracket for your car.
The Sc inlet pipe
The Sc discharge pipe
By pass valve
Oil send lines and fittings to sc.
Oil return lines and fittings from sc
New tune via a chip are programmer.
Then I would suggest a dyno tune.
If you read the directions on Vortech's website it will give a good idea of what is needed

thanks for the list, this is exactly what i was looking for.
instead of getting a dyno tune, could i safely run a mail order tune? basically, i dont have a lot of money to throw around, but $800 is too good to pass up. so i need to be extremely safe, as cheaply as possible.
btw, anyone have any s/c install writeups?

buyer beware....with used supercharger kits....not always a deal.

make sure you research it before you buy it
what risks are there in buying a used supercharger? is it a bad idea? im trying to do as much research as possible. would a kit designed for another model year be ok with my 00 if i got a different bracket? it should all be the same, right? i was reading the parts list, and it is a long list of clamps and hoses. im skeptical that he has all the pieces.

i bought a used kit that was for 99-04 [he had 3 mounting brackets included and two belts] turned out the s/c leaks oil so that needs a 330$ rebuild and the belt for 99 not included or the idler pulley. not sure if the bolts/screws are correct i havent gotten that far yet. i still have a 99 bracket from my old setup i sold last yr when the motor went south so im just going to re-use that. long story short: used kits from different model yrs are a PAIN IN THE ASS to get all pieced together. the $$ ill end up spending i couldve just bought a brand new tuner kit [bare kit just the essentials] from cool blue performance.
