Hey guys, I am having a sticky throttle, it will kinda stick at 3000 rpm or so after getting in to it. If I get out of the car and touch the TB it will go back to idle. I pulled the cable and made sure it was routed away from anything that would cause it to bind. I also tapped the gas pedal with this off and it feels smooth and then I opended the TB without the cable on it and it doesnt stick or anything. The TB just feels a bit weak, but does retur to closed positon. Can I get just a spring for mine or ddo i have to get a new TB. BTW it a BBK 70mm.

Just put a spring on it like they used to use on carbs.

cabred 85- i've heard of bbk TB's sticking before, most of the time at idle though. try the cheaper way (spring) and if this doesn't solve your problems id look into an accufab 70mm. u dont want your throttle stuck open at 3k rpm when you're supposed to be stopping at a red light

Yeah its been a pain wahen it sticks, luckily not at WOT but not going to chance it. I will get a carb throttle return spring kit and adapt it to the TB.

Thanks

Hey guys, wondering if I’m having the same type issue? I just bought a Mach 1 and it has a BBK throttle body. It seems like the gas pedal is super hard to press. Once it is moving it’s not bad, just the initial press? I was thinking maybe a spring?

What are your thoughts and where would I buy a spring?

Thanks all!!

Marty

You definitely brought one back from the dead lol.

I had a BBK TB on my '02 GT back many years ago. It did what it sounds like yours is doing as it would stick closed. What I did to fix it was screw in the throttle stop screw just a tiny bit so that it stopped against the screw instead of the blade binding in the bore.
