Ive been looking at the BBk 62 MM throttle body for my 05 GT and ive found some other things like throttle body spacers. Whats the difference? they each say about 10 hp gain and what not and the prices are alot different. around 300 for the throttle body and 90 for the spacer can someone shed some light on this for me?

Please don't waste your money on a throttle body for that car. I've got friend pushing 800 rwhp and one that's over 1000 rwhp and they both use the stock TB. If you search around on the forums enough you will find that guys that tune these cars say the same thing. The stock throttle body has no obvious shortcomings.

Although I can't speak from personal experience ? I can tell you that Doug from bamachips.com does not recommend throttle body spacers and considers them as a complete waste of both time and money...For the very same $90-100 bucks ? you would be much better off spending it on mods such as FRPP delete plates that are both proven and guaranteed to provide between 8-10 additional HP...Therefore IMHO ? the FRPP delete plates would be your best bang for the buck mod under $100.00

I'll tell you one more thing about aftermarket throttle bodies. They will not work as well as your FOMOCO original. I had a TB on my '96 from a reputable aftermarket supplier and had nothing but trouble with it. Couldn't get a stable idle, bad cruise control, and worst of all, no noticeable gain at all. The cruise contol issue will not be a problem with the S197's, but I will bet you will have the other problems I mentioned.

Other mods have shown proven gains with our cars, even in normally aspirated setup. CAI's, tuners, or a little from underdrives and axle-backs. All of these are in the price range of a TB. As for the spacer, as was said, not worth the bucks.

I know a few guys that have had relly good luck with the new BBK TB. I know that the earlier models by other brands were having lots of problems.

I will be getting one in the future, but not right now. I think that the TB on this car is one of those mods that has to have the supporting mods before you really see a difference. And by supporting mods I mean Long Tubes, Delete plates, etc....

"With no other change except the addition of the BBK Throttle Body our GT jumped to 347 rwhp and 326 ft. lbs. of torque. Just to confirm the gain we put the stock throttle body back on and power fell back to 340 then reinstalled the BBK to see power jump again to 347 rwhp. "

from brenspeed. had cams, exhaust, cai, tune etc etc.

if you read the entire article from brenspeed, you will notice that they did this as one of the last mods. this and the racer version of the C&L intake. without the cams or a power adder, you wont see nearly this gain.

Ouch....$450 for the GMS TB....

If your not doing your cams over then the regular TB is good to go.
If your going to do the cams and go with a larger MAF meter then the TB will provide some more H.P.
