Tacoma Wa
I am in the process of changing my valve cover gaskets. I removed the upper intake and the job is halfway done. I am replacing the gasket in between the upper and lower intake the gasket in between the Throttle body and the ? What is the peice called in between the Throttle body and the upper intake? How do I get this part off to replace the gasket in between. In the kit I received 2 gaskets. A thin one and a thick one. Whick one goes in between the throttlebody and which one goes in between the intake and that peice. The engine I am dealing with is pretty beat. Everything I touch seems to be just collapsing to my touch. The car is a 89 gt vert.

First, hello to the WA Stanger. I feel your Tacoma pain, I went to college there a few years back and will never forget that Tacoma Aroma.

I don't remember much about the stock gaskets. I have been using silicone for the last couple of years because 70mm gaskets are kinda tough to find.

The extra part you asked about is the EGR spacer. I have no idea what gasket goes where though. But I am curious, and I am sure someone here will be able to help.

Good Luck

remove the four bolts holding the TB to the EGR spacer...they may seem fixed, but simply need to be pryed apart (be gentle though). The gaskets for the 70mm (also works for the 65mm TB can be had from most performance stores..mine were Edelbrock. Clean the matting surfaces well, and don't over torque the TB to EGR spacer nuts..see manual. Also note...DO NOT overtorque the upper to lower bolts..the will strip quite easily..I choose to only snug them, that being near or just under 10ft lbs...no problems ever with this method.
