My car has this loud ticking thing going on that speeds up/fades out with throttle. I have one of those stethoscope things to listen to the engine when I listen to the valvecovers everything sounds normal, listen to the oil pan everything sounds normal but when I listen to the pipes on the driver's side i can hear it, and when i listen to the individual header pipes i hear it clearly through the number 8 cylinder. is this a noisy fuel injector or exhaust leak or maybe i sucked up a camaro and i can't get it out with my narrow exhaust vavles

Check your gasket. I swore up and down that I had a valve problem a while back because my engine was ticking as well. Turned out that there was a small hole burned through the exhaust gasket. Easy fix.

+1 for it being a camaro... Id say an exhaust leak is a likely culprit. Does it change when hot and cold? Lotta times a small leak will go away when the pipes heat up.

that makes sense, but my gaskets are the reusable copper ones but i'm gonna slip a wrench on the bolts and resnug them. but now that i think about it, it does kinda disappear when it heats up.

You know what they say man, always better to start with the easy stuff, even if you think its too easy to be the problem. I know someone who was trying to diag a problem where the puddle lights of an expedition didnt work. So he starts pulling out all the service manuals, the door panels come off, had the dash pulled away from the firewall... all this and 6 hours later, turns out the bulbs were burnt out.

that sucks, tightned up the headers bolts and it seems to have fixed so thanks for the idea
