My wing was a little loose and noticed that a screw was missing from the left side. when I tried to put in a similar sized screw it would not tighten up to the trunk lid. I tried to get a bigger diameter screw but they do not make one bigger than a #14. The only way they do is use a lag bolt which I do not like.

What would you do? I though of putting inserts like the ones you use for sheetrock and then using the screw into that. Or, I could fill the screw holes on the wing with fiberglass and re-drill pilot holes and put new screws in.

Or, what about using epoxy to set in some studs on the wing and using a nut and washer?

Any other suggestions? Thanks much!!

i think the insert for sheet rock or something alike will work but first you are going to need to completely remove the wing (takes maybe 5 min. tops) & assess how bad it is.

I had a hole that got stripped on my '87...I figured out what the correct size bolt was, and went 1 size up...took a little effort but it rethreaded itself thank goodness...held strong since

I have the wing off already. Only one hole is a little too large for a #14 screw. But, i can't go up unless I get a lag bolt.
