i have a 1993 gt 5-speed it is all stock except for the k&n filter.i ran it at the 1/8th strip on 7-20 here is my best run but it does spin hard on the line

reaction .0838
60ft 2.1390
330ft 6.3790
594ft 9.2690
1/8 et 9.9044
1/8 mph 70.82

and i ran at a time trials today and the best i ran was

1/8 th 10.12
1/4 mile 15.46
1/4 mile mph 91.83

does this seem right for a stock car with 3.08 gears?

also what can i do to make major improvements on my times?

i want to run 8's in the 1/8th but i need advice and i only have about 3000.00 should i just buy a vortech s trim

the motor only has about 15,000 miles on it
it runs great

Your times are a little slow...I feel like a stock GT should run at least 15 flat and probably into the high 14's. Your 60' times are not terrible which means the car is getting off the line pretty well, but it seems like your MPH is still a little low. You should be running around 93-94mph. Maybe work on the launch a little more and try to speed up those shifts. How is the car running mechanically? how many miles and when was the latest tune-up? Not too bad though.

I agree with ninety. Your mph seems a bit low. I would kill to have 60' times in the 2.10 range.

set of gears (3.55 or lower)
full exhaust
bolt ons ( pullies, CAI if u want) TB and MAF wont really benefit you with stock heads and intake, wait for better heads and stuff for them

also get sticky tires. with a good launch your MPH(now) is good for mid to high 14s

withs some gears and exhaust and stuff you could get around 97-99 mph traps and hit 13s with good driving. then you would be running 8s in the 1/8th

That's pretty good advice on how to make the GT faster. I will kinda sum it up and add a couple things.

Gears
An aftermarket midpipe and catback, stock headers will be fine.
Don't waste your time on a CAI, the stock airbox with a drop in filter like you have works great. Just make sure the factory air-silencer is removed.
Bump the timing. They usually like 12-14 degrees before pinging, but I've seen as much as 16. Mine is fine at 15, but I never tried to go higher. You will have to run premium gas though.
Shifter. I love my MGW, as does everyone else that has one. Just don't get a Hurst.
Subframe connectors
Drag radials
Driver

It's good to get all the usual bolt ons done to make a good base before doing anything big. The Vortech would be nice, but I'd do at least this stuff first.

BTW, got any pics of the LX? What's so wrong with it??

With 91.83mph trap speeds, you should be seeing 14.6-14.7's as-is.

+1 ....also, what was the adjusted altitute, the altitude after all of the atmospheric conditions were factored in? This is an important variable.

That is a very clean little lx you got there!! Make sure the silencer is removed and do a full tune up and bump the timing to 14 degrees or so like everyone else said. Then add gears, rebuild the diff while your at it the kit is only 46 dollars of so and this helped my 60ft. alot (I was able to get a 1.98 60 ft. after doing gears and rebuilding the diff). Then add a shifter, mid pipe and a catback. Assuming everything else is good you should run in the 13's with these mods.

About the Maf and intake, I would recommend these because I gained 9whp and 10wtq on average with peak gains of 13whp and 17wtq, with a c&l 76mm maf and intake tube, but I also have a full exhaust and no cats.
If you don't do all hwy driving I would get the 3.73 gears or If your not planning on doing alot to your motor (heads, blower...etc) I would go with 4.10 or I think some company makes a 3.91 or something close to it?
