Timing adjuster vs. pulleys

I was wondering what would be better, a timing adjuster, or underdrive pulleys. I have basically just begun to modify my car, and performance wise i only have a K&N and flowmasters. Next i plan to buy either the pulleys, or the timing adjuster, but want to know which would be better, for performance and value. thanks.

what exactly do the pulleys do to enhance performance? is it an easy install, and are there any downsides to them?
They reduce parasitic drag and reclaims some HP that is lost.

The only downside is that if you ever get supercharged you'll have to swap back to your stock pulleys. I think there is a brand that you can use with a supercharger but I'm not sure which one.

It is a fairly simple install.Took me about 30 minutes, and that was only because I was in a friend's shop and had to search every friggin drawer for the tools I needed. If you are mechanically inclined at all, you should have no problems doing it yourself. The hardest part is removing the crank pulley because you have to use a puller, but even that is no big deal.
