I am replacing a leaking timing cover gasket and decided to replace my timing chain. I bought the FRPP Roller Timing Chain and I have no idea how to position the crank sprocket. There is no hole to line up to the other sprocket!
The sprocket has notches with circles embossed above them. Only one notch has a circle without writing by it. The rest say:

2A 4A 6A 8A 2R 4R 6R 8R

The circle without a letter and number by it is between the 8A and the 2R. I'm assuming that it means degrees advanced and retarded. My question is, what do I need to do to install it correctly on a stock 5.0? I would hate to have to take it all apart due to the sprocket being lined up in the wrong notch. Also how do I know if I have both sprockets are exactly in line with each other? A level? Please help!

that notch with a circle is zero. rotate the crank so the keyway is at the top, then line up the two sprockets. slide chain over both gears and install over crank and cam.

you can put it in "0" (stock) but you can advance it to 2A you are going to have more low end torque!
