Okay, I have done all the research, but still have a quick question. When reinstalling the timing cover, is it totally neccessary to cut the rubber oil pan gasket? That makes me a little nervous. I have not had good luck with any type of cork gasket. I would think that I can just put some rtv in the corners where the rubber pan gasket meets the block and timing cover. I would like to reuse the existing oil pan gasket. Is this possible?

It is a one piece rubber or is it a paper gasket? If it a one piece, then I would say put rtv in the corners and on the "hump" (were the crank snout goes throu). If it paper,do what is says and cut it flat and get another paper/cork gasket and rtv on both sides all the way.
