The timing is locked and dont know what degree its locked at. The problem is when I crank the engine it hits I pull the throttle and acts like it wants run but backfires then just keeps hitting. What is the firing order? If you can edit the pic and send it back I used regular order and changed wires around no luck.

It may be easier to just start over.. #1 tdc (compression stroke.. turn over with ratchet at crank pulley until air pushes from the spark plug hole) then when piston is at top center (summit sells a tool to assist just in case your balancer is illegible) then re drop your distributor accordingly. If I can recall from memory a 302 order is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8, with #1 closest to you on passenger side (looking at engine). This should get you in the ballpark.

the engine in the pic is a 408w victor jr intake, victor junior heads, speed demon 750, holley blue, solid roller, it is a nitrous motor but not gonna run any right now just need to get it cranked so i can see what i'm working with.
