Timing how do u know whats it at??

ok i got a timing light... never adjusted timing before... Ok pointed lite on the crank saw the lines move a lil bit... So how do i know how many Degrees it is set at??? there is 3 lines there also... So just wondering on how many degrees its at and how to use a timing lite i know how to adjust it etc...

Did you attach it to the #1 cylinder? Did you disconnect your spout connector? If you did those things it should be easy. Point the timing light at the harmonic balancer, and you should see the numbers line up with the timing pointer.....just read the numbers to tell where it's at.

yes i attached it to the #1 cylinder and disconnected the spout.. pointed light i dont see any #'s just three lines

i didnt loosen the dist. because i just wanted to see where its at... and it looks like its hard to get to
