when i was ajusting my timeing i put it at *12 without the spout in and when i connect it the timing jumps to 24* is this right? also how do i know when ive added too much timeing because when its at 14* spout out and 28* spout in and it seems to run slower but i dont hear my car ping at all could it be that i have a header leak? my headers are leaking because i think i blew the gaskets on my bbk headers because there both leaking i need to replace them but how important is it can i wait and my car be fine?

yep.

SOTP testing like you are doing can be hard to do (things like the ambient temps, how hot the motor is, etc all make a difference). but if it feels worse with more base timing, i would back it down to where it felt better.

good luck.
